Shawn Hogan, VP of Engineering at Linx, has received the Service Member Patriot Award sponsored by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). This award recognizes supervisors and bosses nominated by an employee serving in the National Guard or Reserve for support provided directly to the nominating Service Member. In May, CEO Tolga Latif was nominated for the award as well. Both Tolga and Shawn are deserving of this honorable award for the support and flexibility they have given to service members.
The Patriot Award reflects the efforts made to support the ‘Citizen Warriors’ through a wide-range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families and granting leaves of absence if needed.
When the forest fires broke out here in Southern Oregon this summer my National Guard unit called on me to help get the situation under control. I can’t imagine having an employee take almost a month off of work without any notice is something that any employer is prepared to deal with. Shawn Hogan and the rest of the staff here at Linx had no hesitation granting me the time off and did everything they could to support me during the mission. This is just one example of how Shawn has enabled me to become a more valuable asset to my National Guard unit. Now with the smoke cleared up here in Merlin I am happy to have the opportunity to present Shawn with the Employer’s Patriot Award.
– Joel Krawczyk
Joel enlisted in the Oregon Army National Guard in 2008 with F Co. 141 BSB out of Medford, OR. He deployed to Iraq with D Co. 1-186 in 2010 out of Merlin, OR. In 2010, Joel was awarded Army Commendation Medal for service in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In Spring of 2012, Joel came on board at Linx Technologies as an Electrical Engineer. His current duty in the National Guard includes Electronic Device Repair and his current rank is Specialist E-4.
Our citizen soldiers make many sacrifices to meet their training and deployment commitments. Joel brings many skills and core competencies to both his Guard responsibilities and his work here at Linx. It is only natural that we as employers support him whenever possible, so he can concentrate on the mission at hand without distraction.
