A team of four runners from Linx Technologies joined more than 48,000 registered racers to compete in the 35th Annual Bolder Boulder 10k race in Boulder, Colorado.
Thad Smith has raced over half of the Bolder Boulder races and invited other Linx employees to join him. Although Thad’s running has slowed over the years, he still laces up his shoes reserved strictly for Bolder Boulder and races his hardest.
Mark Matlin last raced Bolder Boulder with his son when his son was only 5-years-old. That was 17 years ago. More recently, he was familiar with the race from volunteering at the water stations along the way with the his son’s high school football team. He prepared for the race by adding treadmill and outdoor runs to his normal workout schedule at the YMCA. He plans to amp up his training even more for Bolder Boulder 2014!
This was the first 10k race for Robert Banks. He started his training in March, is proud of his “58-something” time and vows to do better next year. Robert was impressed with all the entertainment and goodies supplied by the neighborhood spectators, including the slip ‘n slide set up in someone’s lawn along the course which he and David couldn’t resist! After finishing he got a text from his father and discovered that he ran the race as well. His father joined the Linx team and Robert’s wife in the stands to watch the rest of the finishers.
David LeFlore was also a first time racer. He noticed that his pre-race training helped boost his speed. He got up at 6:00AM and carb-loaded for breakfast which seemed to cause an upset stomach around mile 3, but shortly after it faded away and David finished with a strong sprint to the finish.
